Farm news

  • Our Blueberry farm is closed for 2015
    Posted on July 14, 2015
There are just not enough Blueberries to be open any longer. We anticipate reopening late May of 2016. This Blueberry season was a very unusual one, primarily due to all the rain  we received. So, we want to thank you for coming to our farm, despite the weather.  Hopefully,  we will have lots of Blueberries for you next year. Have a great off season. And, hope to see you in 2016!...
  • Weekend Update
    Posted on July 11, 2015
The Blueberry season is starting to wind down. However,  there is still a good amount of Blueberries to pick. Serious pickers know it is time to become one with the bush! Time is running out to fill your freezer. Our Blueberry season may very well end any moment after this weekend. My next update  will be Thursday afternoon....
  • Plenty of Blueberries for this afternoon, Saturday, and Sunday !
    Posted on July 10, 2015
We will have lots of Blueberries to pick for this afternoon and tomorrow. Our Blueberry field is a large field. Such that, where we are picking this afternoon will be a different area than this morning. The same goes for Saturday and Sunday. This keeps an area from being picked over. Hope to see you this weekend! My next update will be tomorrow afternoon....
  • This weekend will be great for Blueberry picking!
    Posted on July 9, 2015
As you can see from this pic, there are still lots of Blueberries left! Friday, Saturday, and Sunday will be great days to come pick. It still looks like we will make it to the last weekend in July.  So, if you have not filled up your freezer, you still have about three weekends left. My next update will be tomorrow afternoon....

There are lots and lots of Blueberries for your 4th of July festival! Tomorrow will be excellent. So, plan on picking as many Blueberries you desire. It has been wet this week. And, there are some wet areas in the field. But, not to worry, we will be sending you where it is not wet. For the adventurers, you might bring an extra pair of shoes. My next update will be tomorrow afternoon....

Check out Fox 26 at 5pm today. They’re suppose to feature us on their program. My next update will be Friday afternoon....
  • Blueberry picking will be good this afternoon and Sunday

  • Open Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Rain or shine!
    Posted on June 18, 2015
Conditions are wet here at our Blueberry farm. However, there are sections in our field that are well drained and have  sandy soil. And, we will direct you there. There are lots of Blueberries, but you will need to taste test. Because they turn blue before they turn sweet. Due to the wet conditions, you might want to bring extra shoes and clothing. Should you decide not to come this weekend, not to worry. There are a lot more Blueberries still to get ripe. Such that our Blueberry season should last till late July! I’ll post my next update tomorrow  afternoon....
  • Fridays are back on the menu!
    Posted on June 15, 2015
We are at that time in our Blueberry season where a lot more Blueberries are getting ripe. So, we will be open every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday while the Blueberries last. Which may go to late July! We will be watching this storm in the Gulf. Hopefully, it’ll not linger very long. So, I’ll post my next update on Thursday....
  • We’re still on for Sunday
    Posted on June 13, 2015
Despite the showers this morning, we had a very big crowd of Blueberry pickers such that the Premier have been picked out. But not to worry, there are plenty of the other varieties ripe to pick, for example, Tifblue and Brightwell. Hope to see you this afternoon or tomorrow. I’ll post my next update Monday....
  • Excellent picking for Saturday!
    Posted on June 12, 2015
There are now lots and lots of plump sweet Blueberries for you to pick this weekend, if you go where we tell you. However, should you go elsewhere, there’s something you need to remember. Just because they are blue doesn’t mean they are sweet. They turn blue first. Then they ripen. Hope to see you this weekend! I’ll post my next update Saturday afternoon....
  • Open Saturday June 13th and Sunday June 14th
    Posted on June 10, 2015
We’re still waiting for the other varieties to get ripe, before we add more days to open. Hopefully, that will be next week. For this weekend, there will be plenty of plump, juicy Blueberries to pick. Hope you can make it, because this variety, Premier,  won’t last much longer. I’ll post my next update this Friday....

    Posted on June 5, 2015
Hello again from the Blueberry farm. It looks like there will be lots of Blueberries for you to pick tomorrow! This sunshine has made them real sweet. Cause of the rain, they are plump and juicy!  We are expecting a lot of pickers tomorrow, so try to get here early. There’s about 12 rows in the field that are outside the flagged areas. I’ve identified them with orange surveyor tape. As in this pic. Check them out. Still won’t know until Saturday afternoon, as to whether we will be open on Sunday. So, look for my update tomorrow afternoon....

    Posted on May 27, 2015
The wet conditions here at the Blueberry farm have made it such, that we will not be open this weekend. It’s too wet to pick. And, the Blueberries need more sunshine to sweeten. Hopefully, we will open up the first weekend in June. I’ll post my next update this coming Wednesday....

    Posted on May 20, 2015

  • Friday, May 15, 2015 Update
    Posted on May 15, 2015
Greetings once again from the Blueberry farm. Throughout the Blueberry field, the Blueberries are turning pink, as in this pic. One or two are turning blue. So, it is doubtful that we will be open Memorial day weekend. More likely, the last Saturday in May. There are not as many Blueberries on the early varieties as compared to the latter varieties. Such that, the first two to three weeks of our season, we will probably be open only one day out of the week. And, as more get ripe, we will  add more open days. I’ll post my next update on Wednesday....
  • Friday, May 1, 2015 Update
    Posted on May 1, 2015
Greetings once again from the Blueberry farm. As, you can see from this pic, the Blueberries are beginning to turn pink. But, it will be several weeks before they turn Blue. So, my best guess is maybe we’ll be open by the end of May. I’ll post my next update on two weeks....

  • Road closure
    Posted on July 18, 2014
I69/59 will be closed north of FM1314, Saturday and Sunday.  So, I suggest you take the Loop 494 exit just past the San Jacinto bridge. Travel north on Loop 494 for about six miles. Then turn left on FM1314. And proceed to our farm. Take the Hardy Toll Road, if you’re traveling north on I45. Here’s a better pic, showing just how much more the Blueberry bushes are producing. It’s quite a Blueberry season!...

Well it may be wet the next three days. But, despite that, we still have a lot of ripe Blueberries for you to pick. Blueberry picking will be good for tomorrow. There will be freeway closings this Saturday and Sunday. If you are traveling north on I45, take the Hardy Toll road. Should you be travelling north on I69/59, just pass the San Jacinto river, take the Loop 494 exit. Then travel north on Loop 494 for about six miles. Then turn left on FM1314 and proceed to our farm. We still plan on being open Friday, Saturday, and Sunday all this month. And, might go into August! I’ll post my next update this Saturday afternoon....

  • Freeway Closures
    Posted on July 10, 2014
Apparently this Saturday and Sunday,  they will be closing completely I45 and I69/59, just south of where we are. So, I would suggest that you: Take the Hardy Toll Road instead of I45 . Or, travel north on I69/59, just north of Humble,  take TX 494. Continue north on TX 494 for about 10 miles and then turn left onto FM1314. Then continue on FM1314 for about 10 miles. Then turn left onto Calhoun rd. and follow the Blueberry signs. Or, plan to come to our farm on Friday and avoid this whole thing on Saturday and Sunday.
